A few weeks ago I blogged about our new Vans-shoes. After taking the pictures of the two of us, Maan asked whether she could give Schurk some treats. The two of them are so cute and these pictures are so dear to me. Maan loves our cats to death. Schurk enjoys her company too, luckily.

Schurk is pretty old, turning 16 this year. Since a couple of weeks she isn’t feeling well and we went to to the veterinarian last week. It was quite a challenge because she needed a blood test, but she was dehydrated which made drawing blood nearly impossible. The poor thing was so stressed out and came home shivering. Maan felt so sorry for her, she tried to comfort her with treats, petted her the entire evening and was talking to her constantly. She was so mad when we took her to bed to give Schurk some well deserved rest.

For now, we have to be patient and wait for the results of the test. Hoping for the best.

Flower-wise, my favourite time of the year has arrived: the time to bring magnolia into my home. I love magnolia’s and have written about my fascination for them before. I love the branches itself and the flowers have something magical, they remind me of fairytales and my grandparents’ garden. On top of that, the moment you see magnolia’s bloom, you know spring is around the corner.

Dutch as I am, I was complaining at work about the branches I saw at flowershops, because they were small and pretty expensive. A few of my colleagues surprised me with the fact that they had a magnolia tree in their garden and wanted to cut off a branch for me. One of my colleagues even told me it would be too hard to transport a branch on a bike and told me to pick it up by car. To be honest, I thought she was exaggerating, but no. Her husband cut off a branch that was as big as me. So awesome. While I was dragging it into our living room, Maan shouted: mama, a tree! A tree!

It was quite a challenge to find a spot for it, so I cut off a few smaller ones to put on my table. I will definitely show you the bigger branch later on, but first a few pictures of the branches with flower buds and -a few days later- in bloom. The marble vase was a fleamarket find some years ago and the metal vase was a gift from Flinders. The Menu tactile vase is so impressive, both shape and choice of material are so strong. But I was really trying to be minimalistic and stop the overpopulation of vases in my closets. What to do when someone offers you a chance to pick out a favourite? Everybody has their weaknesses and I am a sucker for pretty vases. Thank god for that, I love my new vase.
