During our (almost never-ending) renovation, I dreamed of shelves in the living room that I could style over and over. These Bracket shelves by Hay are all I wished for and more.

Tijdens onze (eeuwen durende) verbouwing, droomde ik van wandplanken in de woonkamer waar ik mijn vergaarde schatten kon tentoonstellen. Deze Bracket planken van Hay zijn perfect.

The first time I saw this pillow, I was in love. And like the most items I love instantly, it turned out pretty expensive. It is the Notknot pillow by Umemi. It’s an enlarged classic knot (Turk’s head) made from Icelandic wool. After thinking about it for quite some months (maybe even years), I decided to just go ahead and buy it, when I saw it in the Dutch webshop Funnshus. Now all I need is a finished living room to show it off!

De eerste keer dat ik dit kussen zag, was ik verliefd. En zoals het werkt bij de meeste spullen die ik prachtig vind, bleek hij behoorlijk duur. Het is de Notknot van Umemi. Het is een vergrootte versie van een klassieke knoop (Turk’s head) gemaakt van IJslandse wol. Nadat ik er maanden (misschien wel jaren) over na had gedacht, besloot ik hem te kopen toen ik hem zag in de Nederlandse webshop Funnshus. Het enige dat ik nu nog nodig heb is een woonkamer om hem uit te stallen!

Home Sweet Home

Pink seems to be my favorite colour lately. The planter seen above is by Lenneke Wispelwey and I am truly in love with it. I bought the little aloë at a small plant shop, in our city centre. The owner is an elderly lady and she still runs the shop every day. I saw some planters there which must’ve been there for decades. It makes my heart melt.

The cushions on our couch are handmade by me. The striped one is made from a HAY-towel quite a while ago but I don’t get tired of it. And I am also still in love with Mustache Harry from Discodip!

Ik ben nogal into roze de laatste tijd. De bloempot helemaal bovenaan is van Lenneke Wispelwey en ik ben daar echt verliefd. Het aloë-plantje kocht ik in een klein winkeltje hier in de stad. De eigenaresse is een oudere dame die elke dag in de winkel te vinden is. Ik zag er bloempotjes die er waarschijnlijk al decennia lang staan. Daarvan smelt ik.

De kussens op de bank heb ik gemaakt. Het gestreepte kussen maakte ik een tijd geleden van een HAY-theedoek, ik raak hem niet beu. En ik blijf ook fan van Mustache Harry van Discodip!

Zondag

Vandaag heb ik heerlijk rustig aan gedaan. Fijn om de tijd te nemen om op de bank te hangen.

Today I took it easy. It is so nice to take the time to sit on the couch without guilt.

>Plaid!

Afgelopen week was ik bij Oxo en zag ik dit plaid van Designers Guild. Prachtig vond ik hem, maar nog steeds een beetje duur. Na een paar dagen twijfelen ben ik hem zaterdag toch gaan kopen. En wat ben ik er blij mee. Want hij is zo mooi en zo zacht en zo mooi!
Last week I was at the Oxo–store and I saw this throw by Designers Guild. I thought it was gourgeous, but still a bit pricey. After a few days of doubt I went to buy it saturday. And I am very happy with it. Because it is so pretty and so soft and so pretty!

Een paar weken geleden heb ik bij Envelop een aantal geweldige dingen besteld. De bovenste kussenhoes is I Can Hear Myself Think, een ontwerp van Lilley and Skinner. Het onderste kussen heet Invaders #1 en is van Sel Nelson. Alle bestellingen worden per klant geproduceerd, aan de binnenkant van de hoezen zit een label met alle designinformatie, waar zelfs mijn naam op staat. Een uniek concept. Kunst en kleur op beide banken!

A few weeks ago I ordered a few great items at Envelop. The pillow cover at the top is I Can Hear Myself Think, a design of Lilley and Skinner. The pillow cover below is called Invaders #1 and is by Sel Nelson. The orders are being produced per customer, on the inside of the covers is a label with all the design-information and my name on it. A unique concept. Art and colour on both couches!

>Banken dus!

Zoals beloofd wat foto’s van onze woonkamer zoals hij er nu uitziet, met twee heerlijke banken waarop het geweldig zitten en liggen is. Ik wacht nog op kussens die ik heb besteld en ben nog op zoek naar een fijn en mooi plaid. De zoektocht naar het perfecte plaid kost me meer tijd dan het uitzoeken van de bank. 😉
As promised some photo’s of our livingroom as it looks like right now, with two great couches on which sitting and sleeping is fantastic. I’m waiting for cushions I ordered and am looking for a pretty and comfortable throw. Looking for the perfect throw takes up more time than choosing our couch. 😉

Waar ik deze week blij van werd: de bank is verkocht! Om De Nieuwe Bank neer te kunnen zetten, moesten we een nieuwe eigenaar voor onze retro bank vinden. En dat is gelukt, eerder dan verwacht. Verder werd ik erg blij van mijn werk, ik heb het namelijk fijn druk. Zo druk dat de dagen omvliegen. Vandaag werd ik erg gelukkig van een rommelmarkt hier in de buurt. Normaal ga ik met mijn vader, maar hij kon niet, dus ben ik alleen gegaan. Ondanks dat het minder gezellig was, kwam ik met geweldige vondsten thuis. Het allerblijst ben ik met een pastelkleurige ovenschaal van Le Creuset. Loeizwaar, maar wat gaat ‘ie mooi staan in mijn keuken! Ook voor de hertjes ga ik vast een mooi plekje vinden.

What made me happy this week: our couch is sold! To be able to place our New Couch, we had to find another owner for our retro one. And we did, sooner than expected. I was also very happy at my job, because I have a lot to do. Things that make my days fly by. Today I was at a fleamarket and that made my weekend. Normally I go to fleamarkets with my father, but he wasn’t able to join me. Nevertheless, I came home with great finds. I was thrilled with the pastel baking dish by Le Creuset. Heavy as rocks, but how nice will it be in my future kitchen. And I will undoubtely find a nice place for the little deers too.

>De Bank!

Na veel gezwoeg en gezweet staan beide delen van onze bank op zolder. Ze zijn veel groter dan we hadden ingeschat, maar zitten en liggen geweldig. Dat vinden de katten ook. Meer foto’s volgen! Maar eerst de rest van de zolder aangepassen aan de nieuwe inrichting…
After a lot of blood, sweat and tears, both parts of our couch are up at the attic. They are much larger than we anticipated, but they sit and lay very good. The cats have the same opinion. I’ll post more photo’s when the rest of the attic is adapted to the new furnishings.
