The last couple of weeks were quite dusty in our house. So I went to the park, gathered a few little flowers (is that even allowed? I’m not sure, but they made me happy) and I put them in a cup out of the PVC series by Mauk Studio. I’ve seen a fair share of ugly pvc tubes in our time renovating, so I decided to buy some pretty ones as a gift to myself.

We’re waiting for a few things to complete the kitchen: I can’t wait. In the meantime my T. is working hard in the living room. We’ve decided where the electricity points for the lamps should be (quite a task!) and he’s been isolating the ceiling.

De afgelopen weken waren weer behoorlijk stoffig in ons huis. Dus ging ik wandelen in het park, plukte ik er wat bloemetjes (mag dat eigenlijk wel? Ik weet het niet, maar het maakte me wel erg blij) en ik zette ze in een kopje uit de PVC serie van Mauk Studio. Ik heb de laatste jaren verbouwen behoorlijk wat lelijke pvc-buizen voorbij zien komen, dus ik vond het tijd om mezelf een paar mooie exemplaren kado te doen.

We wachten nu op nog een paar onderdelen om de keuken compleet te maken: ik kan niet wachten. In de tussentijd werkt T. hard door in de woonkamer. We hebben besloten waar de lichtpunten moeten komen (lastig!) en hij is begonnen met het isoleren van de plafonds. 

Kitchen

Progress in our American Kitchen! It is starting to look like I’ve been imagining for a while now. Of course we had some setbacks (the kitchen counter needs quite some work still and a few of the cabinets need a new paint job) but we are a few steps closer to an amazing kitchen.

Vooruitgang in onze American Kitchen! Het begint te lijken op de keuken die ik al die tijd in mijn hoofd had. Natuurlijk hebben we wat tegenslagen (er gaat nog veel werk zitten in de afwerking van het keukenblad en een aantal deurtjes moeten opnieuw geschilderd worden) maar we zijn weer een paar stappen dichterbij onze droomkeuken.

Sweet + Give away winner

I am still touched by the enormous amount of love in the blog world. When I have an off day, reading blogs (and your comments on my blog) lift my spirit. And days that are already great get a silver lining, sharing them with you. It feels like you know me and my tastes so well. Sometimes readers are so sweet to send me links of blogs, works of art and interior objects that made them think of me. Sometimes I even find a gift in my real mailbox.

The bag on the top photo was a belated birthday gift from Wendel. Mireille sent me the amazing iphone case on picture no. two, because she knew it was sold out around here. The cushion cover on the third picture was a present from sweet Nikki. I am one lucky girl with blogfriends like these.

Talking about gifts: it is time to announce the give away winner! The Diamond tea towel goes to Lynne! An e-mail is on it’s way.

De enorme liefde in de blogwereld raakt me keer op keer. Als ik een rotdag heb, maakt het lezen van blogs (en van jullie comments op mijn blog) me blij. En dagen die al mooi zijn, krijgen een gouden randje wanneer ik ze met jullie deel. Het voelt alsof jullie mij en mijn smaak echt kennen. Sommige lezers zijn zo lief om me links naar blogs, kunstwerken of spullen te sturen, die ze aan mij doen denken. Soms vind ik zelfs letterlijk een kado in mijn brievenbus.

De tas op de bovenste foto was een verlaat verjaardagscadeau van Wendel. Mireille stuurde me dit fantastische telefoonhoesje, omdat ze wist dat hij hier in de buurt was uitverkocht. De kussenhoes op de derde foto was een kado van lieve Nikki. Wat een geluk, blogvrienden als deze.

Nu we het toch hebben over kadootjes: het is tijd om de give away bekend te maken! De Diamond tea towel gaat naar Lynne! Een e-mail is naar je op weg.

Gradient

I love the gradient colour trend. It reminds me of a beautiful evening sky. These mugs are by &Klevering and the rest of the ceramics are thrift store finds.

Ik hou van de gradient-trend, met kleuren die langzaam verlopen naar wit. Het doet me denken aan een mooie avondlucht. De mokken zijn van &Klevering en de rest van het servies vond ik bij de kringloop.

Spoiled

I must admit I screamed a little when this package arrived (although the commercial bugs me big time). Zalando gave me the opportunity to choose something from their collection and I went for this beautiful thermos from Stelton and a Rie Elise Larsen tea towel. The thermos by Stelton was on my wishlist for a very long time, I think the design is gorgeous. I found one at a flea market a few weeks ago but my dad convinced me to passed it up, because we didn’t know whether it was broken or not. I regretted it sooo much, so I am extra happy to have one now.

Ik moet toegeven dat ik een beetje gilde toen dit pakketje werd bezorgd (ook al vind ik de reclame vreselijk). Zalando gaf me de mogelijkheid om iets uit hun collectie te bestellen en ik koos deze prachtige thermoskan Stelton en een Rie Elise Larsen theedoek. De thermoskan stond al eeuwen op mijn verlanglijstje, ik vind het zo’n mooi ontwerp. Ik vond er een paar weken geleden een op een rommelmarkt, maar liet me door mijn vader overtuigen dat hij kapot was (we wisten niet hoe de deksel werkte). Ik had SPIJT toen ik thuis kwam, SPIJT. Dus ik ben extra blij dat ik er nu wel een heb.

The table

This is the result of all the painting: the table that belonged to T’s grandma has a few extra coats of paint. Our ‘temporary’ living room at the attic isn’t that big, so we’ll probably leave the middle part folded up most of the time. Or I’ll fold it out, just to look at the colours (inspired by the amazing Weekday Carnival).

The flowers and the Hay kaleido tray were a gift from sweet Wendel.

Dit is het resultaat van al het verven: de tafel die van T’s oma was, heeft een paar extra lagen verf. Onze ‘tijdelijke’ woonkamer op zolder is niet heel groot, dus we laten de tafel vast vaak ingeklapt. Of ik klap hem uit om gewoon te genieten van de kleuren (geïnspireerd door de geweldige Weekday Carnival).

De bloemen en Hay kaleido bakje waren een kado van lieve Wendel.

Painting

The last few weeks we’ve been painting a lot. Some door- and window-frames, the dining room table (quite a hassle for a perfectionist like me, it’s almost ready) and a bowl and top of a small side table. After a weekend of painting we thought sushi was well deserved.

De afgelopen weken hebben we veel geverfd. Een paar deur- en raamkozijnen, de eettafel (een behoorlijke klus voor een perfectionist als ik, hij is bijna klaar) en een schaaltje en het blad van een bijzettafeltje. Na een weekend verven vonden we een portie sushi dik verdiend.

Sunday

It’s a cold Easter in the Netherlands this year, so Yvonne‘s Egg Cosy came in handy. But spring will come eventually, right?

Tomorrow is an extra Sunday and it’s well needed. That also means an extra day waiting for my Zalando-package though: they gave me the opportunity to order some goodies from their home-section. And there might be something in it for one of you too.

Het is een koude Pasen dit jaar, dus Yvonne‘s Egg Cosy kwam goed van pas. Maar ooit komt de lente, toch?

Die extra vrije dag morgen is zeer welkom. Het betekent wel een extra dag wachten op de postbode voor mijn Zalando-pakketje: ze boden me de mogelijkheid om iets te bestellen uit hun selectie woon-artikelen. En in dat pakketje zit misschien ook wel iets voor een van jullie.
